1st Award
The first Jordi Solé Tura Award to a doctoral thesis on democracy was given the 3rd of November of 2008.
The winner was the doctor Laia Jorba Galdós from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, author of the thesis Democràcia deliberativa: la transformació de preferència en el procés deliberatiu.
Besides, were given two joint special mentions to the doctor Andrew Davis from the University of Nottingham for its thesis Exploring the limits of asymmetric devolution and autonomy: education and immigration policies in the United Kingdom and Spain; and to the doctor María Benita Benéitez Romero from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid for its thesis La ciudadanía en la teoría política contemporánea: modelos propuestos y su debate.
The jury was formed by the following members of the Advisory Council: el Dr. Francesc de Carreras, Dr. Marc Carrillo, Dr. Francesc Pallarès, Dr. Marcel Planellas, Dr. Pere Vilanova.
There were presented eight theses that were accepted because they fulfilled the requirements:
